Visual description

Mustard to gamboge yellow glows from the cores of the rounded mounds, while the lilac fluorite veils their surfaces — the two complementary colors meeting in soft, blurred gradients rather than hard lines. The whole face shimmers with fine crystal-face glitter; trace iron staining adds warm accents. The reverse carries the white-to-colorless barite blade sprays, a hidden second specimen.

Yellow and purple sit exactly opposite each other on the color wheel — and here two minerals split them between themselves. Mustard-gold barite builds the rounded body of the piece, glittering with countless tiny crystal faces, while pale lilac fluorite drifts over the domes like a violet mist. On the reverse, the barite shows its other face: colorless blades in radiating sprays.

Why collectors want this

Complementary colours rarely occur together in a single natural specimen, let alone in soft, blended zones rather than hard boundaries — that gradient is the first draw. The reverse face, a completely different colourless barite habit, gives the piece a second identity most single-face specimens don't offer.

Living with it

Warm-white light amplifies the golden glow; check the lilac still reads before settling the angle. Since the reverse is a feature, consider a position that allows occasional turning — and lift from beneath, keeping fingers off the thin blade sprays on the back.
