Small, evenly sized amethyst points line the cavity — vitreous luster, terminations sharp. A zone of paler lilac-grey crystals borders the opening, widest at the crown, and the field deepens steadily to saturated near-black violet toward the centre and base. The shell is polished matte, pale grey; in ambient light the cavity reads dark, and under a direct lamp it resolves into hundreds of individual flashing points.
From behind, this is a plain grey stone egg; turn it and the front is all crystal. It formed as a gas pocket in basalt lava, lined over geological time by silica-rich groundwater — the result is the deep, even violet that Uruguayan geodes are specifically valued for, grading to pale lavender only at the rim. The closed back and open front are the same stone, minutes apart in your hands.
