Stout crystals with large, mirror-flat pyramid faces crowd the ridge. The color zoning is the show: saturated violet — nearly ink — at every termination, fading down the crystal body through smoke-grey to water-clear at the roots, so each point carries its own top-to-bottom gradient. Several crystals hold skeletal and phantom structures inside; milky quartz masses fill the gaps between. Under light, the faces flash a blued, metallic violet.
Congolese amethyst grows fast and generously compared with most localities, producing large, well-formed points rather than the fine, dense crusts typical elsewhere. This cluster is a ridge of those points still standing together as they grew — each crystal keeping its own gradient of colour from a near-black tip down to a clear, water-white root.
