Visual description

A narrow rust-brown rim frames the dark, grape-textured cavity wall. The blade spray runs steel-blue through blue-green to silver-blue, with a few broader "paddle" crystals set among the laths. Crystal terminations catch the light as flat, mirror-like cleavage faces.

If its smaller sibling holds a still fan of vivianite, this one holds motion. Across a triangular geode section lined with near-black botryoidal ironstone, a full spray of vivianite blades shoots laterally from the left wall — a jet of blue caught mid-flow and held there for good.

Why collectors want this

Directional energy is rare in mineral specimens — most sit; this one moves. The horizontal thrust of the entire crystal spray gives the piece a frozen-kinetic quality that reads instantly, even from across a room.

Living with it

Same care rules as all vivianite: no direct sunlight (the mineral darkens with light exposure), and no contact with the blades — matrix and stand only. Position with the spray running left-to-right at eye level to preserve the sense of motion.
