Visual description

The color zones read clearly and then interlock: sparkling grey-sugar quartz over the crown, lake-green fluorite in translucent patches through the midsection — hazed wherever fine quartz drifts over it — and butter-to-ivory calcite below, semi-translucent with an oily glow under light. The large calcite crystals keep complete, well-defined forms.

Three minerals, three textures, one upright mountain. A base of fine grey quartz — a surface like crystallized sugar — carries lake-green fluorite banked across its upper slopes, while large honey-toned calcite crystals push outward from the flanks below, each face flat and silk-lined with growth lines.

Why collectors want this

Combination specimens usually make one mineral the star; this one refuses to choose. Sugar-matte, sea-glass green, and honey-translucent share a single silhouette, and the intact calcite crystal forms give the piece a sculptural lower edge that most combination plates lack.

Living with it

Light from the upper front at mid-height so all three zones stay lit at once; a slightly warm lamp flatters the calcite without deadening the green. The projecting calcite crystals are the part to protect — lift with both hands from below.
