A compact cluster of large, rounded-edged crystals in deep aubergine to near-black, much of the surface wearing a grey-silver quartz frost that mutes the purple into haze. Where light transmits through the crystal body, the piece transforms: a vivid pink-violet glow rises from within, faint internal color zoning just visible.
Huanggang fluorite comes in many characters; this is the veiled one. Deep aubergine crystals — cube softening toward octahedron — grew large and blunt, then a final generation of fine quartz dusted them in silver frost. The purple waits under the veil until strong light passes through, and then it burns.
Two states in one specimen: veiled matte purple in ambient light, and a transmitted pink-violet blaze under a strong beam — a genuine optical property of the crystal, not an effect of the camera. Among our Huanggang fluorites this is the collector-grade piece: the largest crystals, the densest mass, and the most dramatic light response.
Keep a strong, directable lamp on hand and set the piece where that beam can pass through the crystal body rather than only bouncing off it — that is what triggers the transmitted pink-violet glow. In softer ambient light it reads as a quieter, frosted purple, so it suits a spot seen under different lighting through the day.
