Several robust prisms rise together and taper upward, their large faces flat and mirror-smooth. The color shifts between deep tea, smoke-brown, and near-black — different faces of the same crystal reading differently. Backlit edges glow amber; rust-red iron staining and small white crystals fill the seams between columns. Matrix is minimal: the cluster essentially stands on itself.
Smoky quartz earns its color slowly — natural radiation from the surrounding rock, acting on trace aluminium in the crystal over geological time. This Brazilian cluster took that process nearly to its limit: a group of stout prisms so deeply saturated they read as black, until strong light finds their edges and the color of dark tea comes through.
